Favorite Meals

I'm not a freuqent blogger so I apologize if this seems to be lack-luster or boring. I'll start by saying that my name is Brian Hadley, and I went to Stow-Munroe Falls High School. If you know where Stow is that's awesome, if you don't I'm not surprised because not many people do. In regards to the food in my room, I don't have that much, so I'll talk about my favorite meals.

During the cold weather I love eating chicken, rice and gravy. My mom makes her own gravy and prepares the chicken and the end result is delicious. I don't remember the first time I had it, but I like it so much because it's one of those "Sunday meals". It's just a home cooked, hearty meal and it's nice to have a warm, filling meal during the winter season. When it comes to the summer and warmer weather, the grill is where it's at. Pretty much anything off of the grill is my favorite summer food. To me there is nothing better than having a cook-out with family and friends. There's burgers, hot dogs, kabobs, ribs and can't forget the steak. I know that I didn't name a specific meal as my favorite, but the flavor that food obtains coming off of the grill is not matched by anything in my opinion. It's not just the food either, grilling out for me is a family thing. I've been grilling or watching my dad grill since I was like 11 or 12 years old, and it's nice to hang out on the deck and just talk with my family while the food is being cooked. If you haven't noticed, I'm a family oriented person and I'm very close with them.

So there it is. I like almost all food and getting to sit at the table and eat with everybody, but the backyard BBQ takes the cake in my book.

  1. I'd have to agree with you that almost any food off of the grill is delicious. Hot-dogs, hamburgers, any foods like that are the type I could eat year around if given the opportunity! And there's nothing like the smell that comes off of a grill in the summer time.

  2. wow, i definetley agree about having the nice hearty meals occasionally in the winter and cookouts in the summer. My family is the exact same way. We cookout atleast 2-3 times a week in the summer and eat together on the deck. Definitely great taste coming off the grill, and memories with it.

  3. I really like how you relate your favorite foods to different times of the year because I really think taht sums up perfectly how people tend to choose there foods. I definitely agree with the grill relating to the summer and the hearty, filling meals to be more associated with the cold, winter weather.

  5. BBQ takes the cake in your book? I see what you did there...

But seriously, this seems to be a pretty common sentiment, people associating the summer/family/grill stuff.

Are you a grilling master yet?

Have you ever put charcoal in a propane grill?

P.S. I've heard of that Stow place.

  6. I enjoyed reading your post. Coming from South Africa where it's hot all year round, I grew up with almost weekly barbecues (well, we call them braais). We did very different stuff to the traditional American barbecue: boerewors (a kind of spiced sausage), lamb chops, smoked pork chops. Just typing out the list makes me hungry!
